Wildlife Pond
This was the perfect spot for a wildlife pond. Built from start to finish with the goal of creating a simple, natural water source for local wildlife, this small pond project included digging out and setting a pre built pond liner, adding natural stone, incorporating planting elements, and finishing the space so it feels settled into the surrounding garden.
After just two and a half weeks, the first frog had already moved in. An awesome reminder of how quickly even a small pond can become useful habitat!
Even a modest wildlife pond can bring more life to a yard by offering water, shelter, and habitat for pollinators, birds, amphibians, and other beneficial life. Designed with a natural look and low impact approach, this wildlife pond adds movement, reflection, and another layer of biodiversity to this backyard native landscape.
We’d love to build more wildlife ponds like this!
Raised Garden Beds
This raised garden bed project followed the full growing process, from building the bed and preparing the soil to planting seasonal vegetables and providing continuous care through harvest. Raised beds create a clean, organized growing space that makes planting, watering, weeding, and harvesting easier throughout the season. With an added bonus: keeps the pups out!
Built with care and maintained from start to finish, this garden became a productive space for peppers, tomatoes, and other seasonal vegetables to grow close to home.
Grass to Mulch Conversion
This grass to mulch transition was started one section at a time, gradually converting unused lawn into a cleaner, more functional landscape zone. The process includes removing grass, shaping the bed edge, preparing the area, and adding mulch to create a more defined, low maintenance space.
Converting grass to mulched garden beds creates a healthier foundation for future planting. Removing sod reduces lawn maintenance and water usage, while opening space for deeper rooted native plants that help retain soil moisture and support healthier garden growth.
This approach gives new garden beds a clean, intentional start and creates a simple but effective way to begin transforming a landscape, one manageable area at a time.
Shrub Removal & Native Bed Installation
This landscape bed started with a yew tree removal and was transformed into a fresh mulched garden area ready for native planting. After removing the yew, the space was opened up, shaped, and prepared to create a cleaner, more intentional planting zone.
Replacing a single ornamental shrub with a native garden bed creates more opportunity for seasonal interest, pollinator support, and deeper rooted plants that can contribute to healthier soil over time. The new mulch layer helps retain moisture, suppress weeds, protect the soil surface, and give the bed a finished look while future plantings get established.
This is a simple but meaningful way to rework an underused area of the landscape, turning a former shrub space into the foundation for a more diverse, and intentional, habitat friendly garden bed.
Scarlet Fire Dogwood Tree Planting & Garden Bed
This memorial tree was planted before the garden bed fully took shape, becoming the meaningful centerpiece for the space. Once the tree was established, the surrounding area was mulched and softened with companion plantings, including Japanese fern and coral bells.
The finished bed creates a calm, intentional setting around the tree while helping protect the soil, retain moisture, and reduce competition from grass. With its layered texture, seasonal color, and quiet sense of purpose, this planting honors the memory behind the tree while giving the landscape a beautiful foundation to grow from.
