  • The landscapes around us are changing. Pollinators, birds, insects, and other wildlife are losing the plants and habitats they depend on. Traditional lawns may look clean, but they offer very little food or shelter for the living systems around us.

For decades, the grass lawn was sold as the American dream. But turfgrass now covers an estimated 63,000 square miles in just the United States alone, much of it offering little value to pollinators, birds, and native wildlife. In fact, we have lost nearly 3 billion birds in North America since the 1970s. Native gardens give us a better way forward. Yard by yard, we can replace empty lawn with living landscapes that bloom, feed, shelter, and support the life that belongs here.

Native plants are built for this region, making them the most reliable plants for your yard. They are fully adapted to Indiana’s seasons, including extreme weather, and will continue to provide beautiful blooms year after year. No more worrying about your plants struggling to survive! They also support local pollinators, providing food for native bees, butterflies and more, helping to feed birds, improve soil health, and create a healthier and beautiful living landscape for future generations.

As more land becomes lawn, pavement, and development, our yards matter more than ever. A single garden may seem small, but together, native plantings create stepping stones of habitat throughout neighborhoods, cities, and communities.

Planting native is one of the simplest ways to make your yard part of the solution.

  • Our focus is native planting, and we always prioritize native plants when they fit the space, goals, and needs of the customer. We believe native plants offer the greatest long term benefit for pollinators, wildlife, soil health, and the local ecosystem.

That said, we are not strictly native only in every situation. Some gardens may include non invasive, well behaved plants when they serve a specific purpose, fit the customer’s vision, or support the overall design. Our goal is always to create healthy, intentional gardens with native plants at the forefront and center.

  • While we do not exclusively offer mowing services, we’re happy to include it into a visit or scheduled work.

Our work focuses on garden design, planting, grass to garden conversion, mulching, raised beds, vegetable gardens, native plant installation, and ongoing garden care.

  • Native gardens are lower input over time, requiring less watering and weeding as they mature, but still require care as they are establishing over the first 1-2 seasons.

New gardens especially need watering, weeding, and care while they establish. Over time, a well designed native garden becomes more resilient, but seasonal maintenance is still important to keep it healthy, intentional, and beautiful.

We’re here for you the whole way!

  • No pesticides and herbicides are used in our garden practices.

We believe gardens should be safe for the life they welcome (pollinators, pets, birds, and people). That is why we employ effective and natural alternatives that are tried and true.

  • We offer vegetable garden design, installation and maintenance, including custom raised beds, soil preparation, planting, mulching, and seasonal care.
